Marilyn Teasing Brush

The Ballerina Bun, a classically feminine, no-nonsense topknot. Here’s the easy step by step how-to:
  1. Brush hair into a high, tight ponytail and secure with a no-snag elastic band.
    - Tip: A brush with natural and synthetic bristles will untangle while distributing your hair’s natural oils.
  2. Spray the pony tail with flexible hairspray and tease with a teasing brush to fluff it up.
  3. Wrap the ponytail around itself and secure it with hairpins.
  4. Spritz some hairspray all over and run the smooth (non-bristle) side of your brush over the front to smooth out any flyaways.

SOCK BUN STEP BY STEP

  1. Find a clean athletic sock, child's sock or dress sock (pic. 3), depending on the length of your hair and the amount of curl you desire, cut off the toe (pic. 4), once that is done role sock into a donut shape.
  2. To create sock curls or create a second day or evening look apply texturizing lotion or volumizing Mousse to your hair and rough dry your hair to 90%, thoroughly dry hair if you only want to wear it for the day.
  3. Decide the placement of your bun and comb hair into ponytail in desired location,do not wrap the ponytail holder too tight as it will cause a kink in your hair when you take it down for sock curls. Use a comb to create a sleek look and your fingers to create a looser look.
  4. Grab the hair in your ponytail and place inside the donut hole (pic. 5).
  5. Wrap the ends around the donut (pic. 6).
  6. Roll your hair down the ponytail (pic. 7).
  7. You can stop here or us hair pins to flatten the bun slightly. Do not use hairpins if you plan to have sock curls on the second day.
  8. For sock curls take a second sock with the toe cut out and after you have rolled your hair into the sock bun, pull the sock over the entire bun. This will keep all of your hair in place and prevent it from falling out and frizzing while you sleep.
  9. Allow your hair to dry completely before unrolling the bun.
  10. Unroll bun and use your fingers to brush through your hair, you can use a brush if desired.
  11. Apply finishing product to the palm of your hand and run through the mid lengths and ends to create separation and a finished look.
Practice! It will take a few times to  figure out the rhythm of rolling your hair into the sock. Go slowly and make sure your ends are tucked in nicely or they will look crimped. If you have layers, you’ll have to pull them into the bun as you go. For more curl use two buns, one on the crown of your head and one below that on the back of your head. When you first try this you may need to touch the curls up with a curling iron, remember practice makes perfect, or thats what my mom told me.....
